Lesson Two: What is an ecosystem?

Mrs Lee Kraeter

The focus of this lesson is to identify what an ecosystem is.

2. Look up the word system in your dictionary and write down what it means.

4. Read the definition below of what an ecosystem is.

An ecosystem is the combination of living and non-living elements in an environment. The interaction that occurs between each and every part of an environment is what creates an ecosystem.

Draw a picture of King's Lake with as many elements as possible.

In what ways would the animals, plants and non-living elements at King's Lake need to interact?
