Answer from Mr Simon

The only echidna that we've seen was Big Momma on Sunday. At least, the only LIVE echidna. We got sad news yesterday morning that two echidnas had been killed on the road, so Mike drove over to get their bodies so that we could get information about them.

Now, usually echidnas are solitary animals (which means that you won't find them hanging out together); the fact that these two were found together means that they were most probably in a 'train'. When we cut their bodies up, we found out that they were both males - so they were probably following a female (which luckily didn't get run over).

And no, I haven't seen any live echidna eggs - only photos. To see the egg, you would have to turn over a mother echidna and see the egg in the pouch before the puggle hatched out.
