Mick-Jigalong

Hey there! Sorry for the delay. Jigalong is now able to access this site after some minor problems.
We have an artist in residence that will be working with the kids in the afternoons, so will access the site with the kids as much as possible. Karen is away tomorrow & Jane will not be back for sometime. Just the three of us tomorrow so I will do my best.
The car will be at the airport & please call before you leave.

QUESTION: Why do you need to record the temperature (using an "I" button) of different landscapes?

Keep up the good work.
Nic

Hi Nic and enthusiastic students,
The I buttons are about the size of fat bottle caps and can be used in the field to monitor temperature changes at any period you require from once a minute or once an hour. Myself and another teacher were given two of these to use in any way we wanted so we decided that since we are not far from the lagoon, we would see if there was any difference in temperature for an echidna foraging around near the water (about 1 metre above sea level) and one foraging up higher (about 30m above sea level). We positioned these about 30cm above the ground (echidna height) in unshaded positions and left them for 2 days. We have collected them now and uploaded the information to a computer, today we'll look at the resulting graphs and be able to see if there is much difference.
PS I appreciate the difficulties you are working with but remember science is much more interesting than art.
